Evening news programs
I make sure to watch the evening news every single day. I prefer TV Patrol of ABS-CBN over 24 Oras of GMA7. Why? It’s mostly because I get distracted by the colorful outfits of Mel Tiangco. There are also times when the voice of Mike Enriquez can be too much to listen to. I like the guy but when you hear his ‘excuse me po’ again and again, it gets annoying.
I don’t know why nobody’s telling Mel to dress her age. Her outfits tend to lean on the young and colorful. I am sure I am not the only one who gets distracted by it. And not in a good way! Then there’s the trademark voice of Mike. I do think he should tone it down a bit considering he’s reporting serious news. Unlike his radio program, he is being seen on national tv by millions of Filipinos around the world and there are times when it seems he is making a joke out of what he’s reporting on tv.
I don’t know with you but that’s just my opinion.
TV Patrol or 24 Oras?
CGMA and the brouhaha surrounding her medical travel

I have been following the news regarding former President and now Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. I read the news online and I also get to hear my bosses discussing it at the conference table at work. Everyone is concerned about the fact that Department of Justice secretary Leila de Lima might be instigating a constitutional crisis with her refusal to honor the TRO handed down by the Supreme Court so the Arroyos can go on a medical trip to Singapore and beyond.
My concern is this actually… if CGMA and her husband Mike Arroyo will be allowed to leave the country, when will they be back? They promised to be back with their lawyer Atty. Topacio even saying on national television that he will have one of his balls cut off if CGMA won’t come back. The question is WHEN?
Warm soak
Have you noticed how hot it is today and the past couple of days? You won’t believe it’s nearing Christmas with this kind of weather. Good thing the condo has a swimming pool with a pool heat pump so that at night my two cousins and I would go for a warm soak. Sleep is so much better when I get to soak in the pool for an hour or so.
I really look forward to the holiday season. I love cool weather and the festive spirit the holidays bring. But the holiday rush, the traffic jams caused by mall-goers, and this unpredictable weather are the things I don’t really like during this season.
How are you coping?
Commuting to work

So my car broke down and I had to commute to work for three days. Instead of getting annoyed over it, I was actually excited to commute to work since the last time I rode the metro rail was when I was in university and my blockmates and I had to go see an art exhibit of a professor. I was gunning for the first train so I was at the platform very early…
You know what? It was kinda depressing to see all those early commuters. They were either so tired coming from work or too sleepy going to work very early. I think I was the only one excited to be riding the train! The next day, instead of going face to face with all those sad faced commuters, I hailed a cab. I was happy I did so because the cab drivers I got for those remaining two days were happy to be traversing roads with very little traffic and their happiness was contagious!
Sick love one
A staff of mine asked me to allow him to take a vacation leave for a week. I asked how and was horrified to know that his father whom I met when I attended his wedding is now sick with cancer. He has bladder cancer and they suspect that it was due to the Actos that he took for his diabetes.
They are now going to consult with an actos cancer attorney for the steps they need to take in order to get back at the people behind Actos. Of course, I allowed him and will talk to management so he won’t be reprimanded by the human resources and operations director for being on a leave for that long.
I hope his family get to spend enough time with their sick love one.
Technical know-how
When I was in my teens, my dad used to tell me that I should be the technical person in the family. He is a banker while my mom is a homemaker. My older sister is an investments consultant and that really left me to be the technical person at home. I think that influenced me in getting interested in technical stuff like a SN100C laser stencil tool as well as other technical stuff related to computers and systems.
I graduated with an Information Technology degree. I’d like to think that a couple of years working as a technical consultant has given me some knowledge to be really called a technical person.
Mommy’s busy but…
…she will always have time for her family, and even every love one she can squeeze in her hectic schedule. I know because my mom is like that! She takes care of everyone at home. She runs errands for elder relatives. She even has time to squeeze in for close friends and community activities! She can multi task and she is successful in almost all her endeavors!
I salute all mommies that I know. I am building up a list of christmas gift ideas for mom. My friends and I will be sharing ideas so we can get the best gifts not only for our moms but also for all the moms we know.
Mommies deserve our love and respect.
Planting veggies
The parents called me up the other day asking me to pick up the composters they ordered. For some reason, the parents thought of planting their own veggies. They asked the gardener to clear a patch of land on our backyard and that’s what he did. Then my mom ordered veggies seeds from the neighbor. Now they are busy planting their veggies and watching their work with a smile on their faces.
I was laughing when I talked to them on the phone. My parents keep thinking of one project after another. They love being busy and when they have nothing else to do, they find something to occupy their time. This time around, it’s the veggies in the backyard.
