Near the ocean

ocean

I miss going to the ocean. We once lived in a place near the ocean and it was a period in my life that I truly miss the most. The sound of the waves crashing to the shore is a calming sound, one that will forever be etched in your heart and mind.

I promise myself a vacation to that place again with the family. I will schedule one this coming July.

I need it.

Road trip

My team got the highest stats during the first quarter of the year. Because of that, I promised them that I will bring them somewhere special as soon as we clear our schedules with the Operations Manager. And so it’s set! We are going on a road trip early next week. I already made accommodations and rented out a big van for the 10 of us who’s going on the trip. I already contacted a company offering roadside assistance should anything happen while we’re on our way to our destination. I am making sure everything is in order before we finally hit the road.

I can see the motivation in my team when they already confirmed with me the set date for our trip. I can see them working doubly hard so there won’t be any pending assignments when we go on leave. We’ll be out of the office for almost four days and just like me, I am sure my team wants no calls coming from the office asking for something that we forgot to turn in.

I must say that I am just as excited as the rest of them. Can’t wait to hit the road!

Change in beneficiary

I was talking to the human resources manager regarding one of my agent’s insurance coverage. She was still single when the insurance policy was taken out. But three months after, she got married and she wants to change the beneficiary in her policy and wants to include her husband in it.

Good thing I was told that the HR team is still in the process of securing term insurance quotes for the agents. They are changing insurance providers so there is still time for my agent to study her options on whether to discard her first set of beneficiaries over her husband or just include him with the first set.

Obsession

The obsession to losing weight with some of the agents in our company is becoming increasingly annoying. You can hear women agents in a corner talking about the latest in the world of diet programs. There are some who are even starving themselves just so they’d lose weight. One agent collapsed the other day because she didn’t have dinner and breakfast and it’s way past lunch. I have nothing against wanting to lose weight. I know it’s a must for most people. But to make it become your life, obsess over it and starve yourself to death… now, that’s something else entirely for me!

There is a top rated diet pill that my sister took to lose the excess wait she gained when she got pregnant with my nephew. Her doctor advised it and she didn’t have to obsess over her weight because it was effective on her. Maybe I should tell the women to stop obsessing over every option they have and rather stick to something that they know is effect on them.

Our Nana

Growing up, my mom had help at home taking care of every household chore. We call her Nana. She is a kind old soul who pampered my sister and me when we were kids. She is still with my parents but is no longer doing chores. She supervises three helpers my mom hired a couple of years ago. Nana has deep wrinkles on her forehead. She would often tease me that it was the result of my naughty behavior when I was growing up. I would tell her that I will get her a deep wrinkle treatment if that’s the case. But she would just smile.

She dedicated more than a decade of her life to our family. In fact, she never got married. It also was probably due to the fact that she sent all seven of her siblings to school. They are all professionals now and even though they’ve been asking her to come home, she said that home is with us already.

We will always take care of her until her last breath. That’s our promise to her family.

Running errands

I think I’ve mentioned this already… I love running errands for the family. Even when I am already harassed with too much work to do, I still run errands for my dad, my mom and my sister. I even run errands for some of my cousins.

Last time I run an errand for anyone, I was asked by my cousin Claudia to buy her alli. I didn’t know what it was until I got to the pharmacy. Imagine learning something new just by running an errand for a love one. Now, that’s something, don’t you think?

Hurts and itches like crazy!

I saw this guy scratching his hands vigorously. It was red like there were welts on it. I didn’t know what it was until I heard him tell the person he’s with that he’s getting an eczema treatment the next day. So it was eczema. I kept thinking it might be itching like crazy because he couldn’t stop scratching his hands.

When I was a little boy, I trip on a tree vein while running with my cousins in the countryside. We were there for a vacation. I got rashes from the plant where I tripped onto and was crying the whole night because of the itchy feeling. It also hurt so much that it added to the uncomfortable feeling that night. It must be the same feeling the guy was experiencing. I wish he’ll get it treated right away so as to get rid of it.

Bikini bod

It turned out she was taking Lipofuze that’s why she was able to get that bikini bod every guy in the office is gushing about. You can’t find a single guy in the office who wasn’t amazed at the transformation. I must admit that even I was amazed!

Nobody’s paying her attention before. But after the summer outing where she unveiled her new bikini body, believe me, you couldn’t find her alone even when she’s in the middle of work. There’s always a guy lurking near her space. Managers in the area, women managers that is, kept on reminding the guys to stop stalking her. We all think she’s enjoying the attention, though. I mean, who wouldn’t right? After more than a year of being a nobody, suddenly she’s the subject of every man’s fantasy at work.

Baby shower for Jan

So the baby shower invitations has arrived! I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I have numerous cousins. Well, Jan is one of my cousins I am closest to. She is pregnant at the moment. My sister and our other cousins are planning a baby shower for her and I volunteered to get the invitations done and sent out.

The party will be held tomorrow. Jan is not aware of it. It will be a surprise. Instead of all girls, the party will be for close family members only, both boys and girls. I just know it will be so much fun!

Successful project

I bought a couple of gifts for some people who are very close to me in the office. It is a way for me to say thank you to them for the support they gave me in the last project I handled. It was really successful so I am sharing with them the glory that endeavor gave me. I bought mp3 players for three of my agents, Backwoods cigars for my immediate boss, and a spa package for one of my TL’s. I had a blast doing that project despite the stress it brought me. I was able to show my creativity and how far I was willing to take a risk when it comes to work.

I am hoping to be given another project in the future.

Preparing for the future

My uncle who lives abroad has a health savings account that he set up years ago and is now accruing interest. He can rely on it should he get sick. He need not bother his children, my cousins, because he has more than enough.

When my dad and mom heard about it, they both set up their own accounts. They also wanted the independence that a health savings account could afford them in the future. I am thinking about setting up my own account as well. This is a good way to prepare for any eventuality. We don’t know what the future holds for us.

Family life

One of my agents was late the other day. He had to stop by the pharmacy to buy his wife’s prenatal vitamins. He is running errands for her left and right because she is taking it slow. They both want to get pregnant this year so they are doing every thing the doctor tells them to do. Including for my agent’s wife to stay in bed most of the time.

I am still single and I don’t think I am ready to settle down. Not yet anyway. But when I see my married agents doing their everything for their families, I feel in my heart that I can also do it if I am in their positions. That’s the time I feel like I can settle down anytime I want and find myself ready for family life.

When stressed out…

Even the best weight loss pills will not be able to help her if she won’t break the bad habit of eating too much when she’s stressed out!

Every one who is close to my colleague would tell her that. She binges when she feels like she’s too much stressed out and then would feel too guilty after. She would bother every one after binging, asking for absolution for what she’s done. But it’s wrong, in my opinion. She should stop the bad habit and find another way to release the stress in her body. She can turn to sports. She can go to a spa. She can box, like what my cousins do. There’s a lot of other ways to release stress aside from binge eating.

Won’t give up

I am getting my aunt a new mac memory. I think she’s upgrading her old mac. It’s been with her for five years and she’s not giving up on it just yet. She’s one of those people who won’t stop using or even replace something she owns unless it won’t turn on anymore. She’s been that way ever since I can remember.

If I have extra funds with me, I would have given her a new mac book to replace that old one she has. Maybe this coming Christmas…
