Everything in moderation…

That’s what my parents always remind my sister and I. We are never forbidden to drink or smoke. We are the ones who said no to it. I drink occasionally, most especially when the uncles and the cousins are gathered together. But never without any reason to. I don’t like hangovers and the general feeling of getting drunk. I tried it a few times back in college and I still regret those few times I did.

It’s the same with eating. My mom is a really good cook! We always spend Sundays at the parents’ house and brunch is served like a feast. But no one in our family gets fat because we eat in moderation as well. Small portions and a wide variety of dishes. My sister took fat burning pills and hired a personal trainer and a nutritionist when she got twenty pounds overweight on her second pregnancy. She didn’t like the feeling of being heavy so she did everything to lose the excess weight.

Everything in moderation. If only we all practice that.

Colon problems due to unhealthy food

Ken is one of the big bosses in my cousin’s office. He is a big fan of oily and fatty dishes. My cousin was telling us that whenever he gets to eat with Ken, he would eat very little because they would eat in restaurants serving dishes that are high in cholesterol. If there’s salad or veggies, then my cousin orders those. Ken would always order the ones floating in oil and fat.

Lately, my cousin noticed that Ken is hardly seen in the office. When he asked around, he is undergoing some medical exams. He suspects he has something in his colon so he wants to make sure that he doesn’t have colon cancer or anything. He will also try the best colon cleanse that a friend told him about.

Eating too much unhealthy food is bad for you and me. Make sure you don’t go Ken’s route, okay?

Bulging tummies

Two of my agents are uncomfortable with their areas. I was asking them why and it turned out that it’s because of their bulging tummies. The two are overweight and are always in beer drinking sessions. No wonder their tummies are growing bigger and bigger each day. It’s like they’re 6-month pregnant women.

Yesterday, I overheard them talking about getting noxycut by next payday. They want to lose weight. They want to be able to live without bulging tummies. I told them during coffee break that they need to cut down on the beer drinking sessions because that also adds to the tummy bulge. I think they’re both serious in their plans.

Traveling alone

Pia will be going on a Branson vacation this coming August. She will be going alone. It is a dream of hers to travel alone and stay in a place all by herself. Pia is pampered all her life so she wants to be able to prove to every one in her family that she can be independent, too.

I am sure she can do it. Pia is a good friend of mine. She’s always treated like a little kid by her family. I know they mean well but I think it’s about time they treat her like an adult. She’s already 23 and she can take care of herself well.

For sample products

The printed boxes were delivered yesterday. My uncle will be using it for sample products he is developing. He will send out some to potential clients and sponsors. My uncle is really excited with his invention and he knows that it will become a successful product in the near future.

My uncle has been developing different products since we were kids. 50% of those products were bought from him while the rest are now sitting in a room inside his house and are mementos of long periods of time spent inside his garage trying to develop it into things we can use at home.

Envious of my TV

My friend is getting an HDTV. He saw mine when he visited my place and we played games with it. Before he went home, he told me that he will set aside his next paycheck to be able to buy one. He was really excited so I know that it will take him just a few days, a week or two at most, and he will surely have the HDTV he wants.

And you know what? He will get one three days from now! He already has a place for it in his pad. He also invited us, his friends, for games when it arrives. I am sure that his HDTV will be well-used by the end of the year.

NBA tickets

Are you looking for Boston Celtics tickets? If you are, better hurry up and log on to Ticket America now. The site has the world’s largest selection of premium seating to sold out events. You know how many people attend an NBA game, right?

I remember a friend of mine who frantically searched for New York Knicks tickets for him and his girlfriend. They were big fans of the Knicks. Since it was a big game that time, they ended up buying the tickets for 200% its normal price. The same happened to my cousins who bought Philadelphia 76ers tickets games last season.

Now that I know about TicketAmerica.com, when my cousins and I will go see a game in San Antonio next season, it would be easier for us to get San Antonio Spurs tickets. All we have to is go to TicketAmerica.com and NBA tickets can easily be gotten. You can do the same.

Update and proclamation

I make it a point to really update this blog. But work is getting in the way. I have a lot on my plate right now so I can only update on weekends. I promise, though, that after this week, things are going back to normal for me. That means more updates here!

Noynoy Aquino-Jojo Binay proclamation

Anyway, were you able to catch the proclamation of President-elect Noynoy Aquino? I did. And boy did I have goosebumps all over my body! It was history unfolding before my very eyes! I just felt that change will happen in this country soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the president will make good all his promises of no corruption and less poverty in the country.

Sensitive eyes

My eyes are bad. I am wearing prescription glasses most of the time or contact lenses when I feel like it. I have poor eyesight and it started when I was in my teens. That is the reason why I am meticulous when it comes to lighting in my home. I need to have soft lighting or my eyes would get hurt easily. I also get headaches when the glare of the light gets too much.

I also make sure that the blinds are drawn in the morning before I open my eyes. One time I forgot to draw the blinds before I went to sleep. When I woke up, the sun is on my eyes. Let’s just say that the day had gone sour for me because of the headache that I wasn’t able to shake off for the rest of the day.

Disabled

It’s so hard to be disabled. I know this because an old relative is now disabled due to an accident at work. Add to that his old age, well, you can just say that maybe time is ordering him to finally retire. It’s just too bad that he is now disabled. The good news is that he has a disability insurance that he can use.

My dad is right in reminding us from time to time to save for the rainy days. Because you might be living in comfort now but who knows that tomorrow brings? At least have something that you can tap into when the going gets tough. I am doing just that.

Zoo Crocodile

There’s not much yellow going on in this photo but I still would like to share this one. This is a photo of a zookeeper feeding a crocodile in Malabon Zoo. Amazing photo, don’t you think?

Near the ocean

ocean

I miss going to the ocean. We once lived in a place near the ocean and it was a period in my life that I truly miss the most. The sound of the waves crashing to the shore is a calming sound, one that will forever be etched in your heart and mind.

I promise myself a vacation to that place again with the family. I will schedule one this coming July.

I need it.

Road trip

My team got the highest stats during the first quarter of the year. Because of that, I promised them that I will bring them somewhere special as soon as we clear our schedules with the Operations Manager. And so it’s set! We are going on a road trip early next week. I already made accommodations and rented out a big van for the 10 of us who’s going on the trip. I already contacted a company offering roadside assistance should anything happen while we’re on our way to our destination. I am making sure everything is in order before we finally hit the road.

I can see the motivation in my team when they already confirmed with me the set date for our trip. I can see them working doubly hard so there won’t be any pending assignments when we go on leave. We’ll be out of the office for almost four days and just like me, I am sure my team wants no calls coming from the office asking for something that we forgot to turn in.

I must say that I am just as excited as the rest of them. Can’t wait to hit the road!

Change in beneficiary

I was talking to the human resources manager regarding one of my agent’s insurance coverage. She was still single when the insurance policy was taken out. But three months after, she got married and she wants to change the beneficiary in her policy and wants to include her husband in it.

Good thing I was told that the HR team is still in the process of securing term insurance quotes for the agents. They are changing insurance providers so there is still time for my agent to study her options on whether to discard her first set of beneficiaries over her husband or just include him with the first set.
