Warm soak

Have you noticed how hot it is today and the past couple of days? You won’t believe it’s nearing Christmas with this kind of weather. Good thing the condo has a swimming pool with a pool heat pump so that at night my two cousins and I would go for a warm soak. Sleep is so much better when I get to soak in the pool for an hour or so.

I really look forward to the holiday season. I love cool weather and the festive spirit the holidays bring. But the holiday rush, the traffic jams caused by mall-goers, and this unpredictable weather are the things I don’t really like during this season.

How are you coping?

Commuting to work

sleeping-commuter

So my car broke down and I had to commute to work for three days. Instead of getting annoyed over it, I was actually excited to commute to work since the last time I rode the metro rail was when I was in university and my blockmates and I had to go see an art exhibit of a professor. I was gunning for the first train so I was at the platform very early…

You know what? It was kinda depressing to see all those early commuters. They were either so tired coming from work or too sleepy going to work very early. I think I was the only one excited to be riding the train! The next day, instead of going face to face with all those sad faced commuters, I hailed a cab. I was happy I did so because the cab drivers I got for those remaining two days were happy to be traversing roads with very little traffic and their happiness was contagious!

;)

Sick love one

A staff of mine asked me to allow him to take a vacation leave for a week. I asked how and was horrified to know that his father whom I met when I attended his wedding is now sick with cancer. He has bladder cancer and they suspect that it was due to the Actos that he took for his diabetes.

They are now going to consult with an actos cancer attorney for the steps they need to take in order to get back at the people behind Actos. Of course, I allowed him and will talk to management so he won’t be reprimanded by the human resources and operations director for being on a leave for that long.

I hope his family get to spend enough time with their sick love one.

Technical know-how

When I was in my teens, my dad used to tell me that I should be the technical person in the family. He is a banker while my mom is a homemaker. My older sister is an investments consultant and that really left me to be the technical person at home. I think that influenced me in getting interested in technical stuff like a SN100C laser stencil tool as well as other technical stuff related to computers and systems.

I graduated with an Information Technology degree. I’d like to think that a couple of years working as a technical consultant has given me some knowledge to be really called a technical person.

Mommy’s busy but…

…she will always have time for her family, and even every love one she can squeeze in her hectic schedule. I know because my mom is like that! She takes care of everyone at home. She runs errands for elder relatives. She even has time to squeeze in for close friends and community activities! She can multi task and she is successful in almost all her endeavors!

I salute all mommies that I know. I am building up a list of christmas gift ideas for mom. My friends and I will be sharing ideas so we can get the best gifts not only for our moms but also for all the moms we know.

Mommies deserve our love and respect.

Planting veggies

The parents called me up the other day asking me to pick up the composters they ordered. For some reason, the parents thought of planting their own veggies. They asked the gardener to clear a patch of land on our backyard and that’s what he did. Then my mom ordered veggies seeds from the neighbor. Now they are busy planting their veggies and watching their work with a smile on their faces.

I was laughing when I talked to them on the phone. My parents keep thinking of one project after another. They love being busy and when they have nothing else to do, they find something to occupy their time. This time around, it’s the veggies in the backyard.

Doctor speak

When it comes to the medical world, I think it’s best that the professionals talk to each other directly. Let them talk and then when they are done discussing the essentials, then that’s the time they can translate everything to you in layman’s terms. I would like doctor speak that way.

And the people behind Doximity know that doctors communication is very important. Communicating all the important stuff in an accurate manner is very important. Doctors like Haseeb Al-Mufti MD need to communicate with other doctors like him to discuss important medical matters.

If you want to know more about Doximity, go to its web site Doximity.com now for more information.

Truck full of veggies

A friend of mine has a field of veggies in the province. He delivers the veggies to the supermarkets here in the city. Last week, he asked me to accompany him to get the best trucker gps we could find. The truck full of veggies that went out of his farm three weeks ago got lost because of a road block that his driver and delivery men encountered. They were not able to call him up and when they went another route, they got lost. Good thing they were able to find a way to the city proper and the veggies were delivered in the nick of time!

My friend does not want it to happen again. Money is lost every minute the delivery is delayed. He wants his truck driver to always know a way to the city should he get lost again.

A financial discussion

I think I have said several times in the past that my sister is a financial expert. She is particularly good in the investments field. We turn to her for advice whenever we feel like we are in need of a direction in our finances. That’s what I did last weekend. I went to her to ask for help in investing my three years worth of bonuses. We discussed the morgan silver dollar price guide because I became interested in it when one of our cousins told me he invested in it. We discussed other investments options for me and I went home enlightened.

I will let her handle my investments portfolio. We will start investing by next month.

Drifting…

My cousin Nina is drifting at the moment. My uncle and my aunt are frustrated over her indecision when it comes to the path she wants to take. They talked to my sister about it and they want her to talk some sense into Nina. But I don’t think it’s the right approach to making her look into the future. I think it’s best to ask her what she really wants in life, where she sees herself years from now.

I know that she was looking for Healthcare Specialists Jobs a few weeks ago. She has a degree in the medical field and she wants to use it but still undecided about the specific field she wants to be in. I think letting her decide on her own will be the best approach in all this.

I’ll talk to my sister about it.

MYM/RT: Oysters, anyone?

Oysters

MellowYellowBadge RubyTuesday

I remember gagging on my first taste of this seafood. Oysters. After a few more attempts, I think I already got the hang of eating it raw. Although I think I’m fine with one or two. I still prefer the cooked ones.

Happy Monday everyone!

Something sweet

I am planning some stuff with my team the other day. One of my agents suddenly brought up the subject of Christmas and exchange gifts. We got to talk about holiday last year and what everyone got. And then it came to the small gift-giving that we call Monito Monita. We elect categories and each day we get to give and receive something from our Daddies or Mommies (giver). For something sweet last year, I gave my boss who was my Baby (recipient) then a Swisher Sweets. I think it got me really high points with him because since then, he treated me a little differently. In a positive way! He has been less hovering and a little more lenient to our team which is really great.

Something sweet… now a boss that is nice to you is sweet!

Has-beens and never-beens

My cousins and I were uproariously laughing when we saw TV ads of music artists holding, and have held, concerts here in the country. Why are we laughing about it? Well, we couldn’t imagine watching really old artists perform songs that became popular back in the ’80s or ’90s! Have you seen those TV spots for Korn, Color Me Badd and All 4 One? I mean, come on! The videos being shown were from the ’80s and ’90s itself! Who would believe that they still look and sound the same way?!?

Don’t get me wrong. I like Korn. I like Color Me Badd. Wait, let me get that straight… I liked. Back when their songs were hits. But why would a concert producer bring them to the country when they have been out of the music scene for years? There were even so many never-beens that were being shown on TV spots that would/have held concerts here as well.

It will really be cool to reminisce and walk down memory lane. But if the music that will accompany the reminiscing will come from artists who can’t sing the same way they did, I think I’d rather bring out the CD and listen to them from the comfort of my room or car.

Club member

My direct superior is an avid traveler. Whenever a chance presents itself, he can go even with just a few basics to wherever his feet will bring him to. He travels at the drop of a hat. He told me that the reason why he does not have a family yet is because he doesn’t want to curtail his passion for traveling.

He is a member of different clubs related to traveling including the roadside assistance club. He has an rv that he brings outside the city on weekends. Nothing and nobody can stop the wanderlust that is my boss. I actually envy the man for his passion!

Weak signal

For some reason, whenever I am at my cousin’s pad, my mobile phone’s signal becomes weak. There are times when I can’t even connect to the network provider. I just kept on ignoring it in the past. But last weekend, I was expecting a call from someone and I’ve been told that she called me up a dozen times and it’s always “cannot be reached” that she got. I told my cousin about it and he said that he’s having the same problem.

I asked around and my tech friends told me to get a home cell booster for the weak signal to get a boost. We will try it out tomorrow and see if it will work.

Two-faced b*stard

2facesIf you are working for a multinational company with thousands of employees, you know that at one point you will have to face a two-faced bastard. I mean, I think you encounter this type even in small companies. They are the ones who smile at you, goof around with you, boost your confidence and will tell you to go for the gold. But the minute you turn your back, the person is spreading one lie after another about you. Ah, those two-faced pain in the you-know-where!

I had a staff who was not up to par with my boss’s standards. She was supposed to be sacked but I fought for her. I told my boss that I would dedicated a portion of my time to train her more. My boss agreed. Imagine my surprise when I learned that she didn’t want to work with me but would rather be under another manager! And all because I was a bit strict with her (because I wanted her to perform well!). It was a slap in the face for me. That person would smile, say yes easily to tasks I assign, would even pick me up from the building lobby when I had a lot of stuff with me. When my back was turned…

You never really know who’s true to you. Even years working together is not a guarantee that the person is actually a friend, with you facing him/her or not. Be careful. There are a lot of two-faced bastards around. You might be looking that person in the eye now.

Company requirement

Whenever I can I offer my help to my love ones. If they need any kind of help in their businesses or in their personal lives, if I can do it, then I really help. One of my numerous cousins asked for help in locating SMT Stencils for his company. Trey has an export business and he needs the stencils for the small parts that his company will soon be offering its clients. I will be spending this weekend helping him out.

I love the fact that most of my love ones have their own businesses now and are successful in the ventures they entered into.

Oscar dela Hoya

Oscar de la Hoya

The former boxing champ and Olympic gold medalist Oscar De La Hoya is battling addictions to cocaine and alcohol. He is also trying to get back with his wife Millie Corretjer, a Puerto Rican-born singer with whom he has two children. They separated two years ago due to his cheating with different women.

I remember hearing about De La Hoya being unfaithful. There were even photos of him wearing lingerie particularly fishnet stockings that surfaced in the past. He vehemently denied that it was him but now he admitted that it was indeed him in those photos!

He sought treatment at a Malibu rehabilitation center and has been sober for three months now.

Hey, even man deserves another shot at life. As long as he can prove that he is truly on the mend, then why not? It would be great to hear him doing good in life with his wife and kids at his side.
