Our Nana
Growing up, my mom had help at home taking care of every household chore. We call her Nana. She is a kind old soul who pampered my sister and me when we were kids. She is still with my parents but is no longer doing chores. She supervises three helpers my mom hired a couple of years ago. Nana has deep wrinkles on her forehead. She would often tease me that it was the result of my naughty behavior when I was growing up. I would tell her that I will get her a deep wrinkle treatment if that’s the case. But she would just smile.
She dedicated more than a decade of her life to our family. In fact, she never got married. It also was probably due to the fact that she sent all seven of her siblings to school. They are all professionals now and even though they’ve been asking her to come home, she said that home is with us already.
We will always take care of her until her last breath. That’s our promise to her family.
