Busy 3 days

It will be a busy 3 days for me starting tomorrow. There will be a series of meetings about the benefits package of the operations people. The human resources department, particularly the compensation and benefits group just got the fresh batch of term life insurance quotes that the operations director is asking for. It will be the main agenda for tomorrow’s meeting. Health benefits will be discussed separately with the various department heads present by Tuesday. And on Wednesday, a decision on which insurance companies to get the coverages from will be reached.

I may not be heading the meetings but this is very important to me as I will be representing a majority of the operations people. I do hope I can contribute to the betterment of the benefits package of the department.

Life ended

I was just writing the entry on the death of the grandson of the head of the Philippine National Red Cross when I read that Marie Osmond’s son leaped to his death. Wow. Talk about a waste of life. Apparently, Osmond’s son has been suffering from depression for years. And when he couldn’t take it any longer, he decided to end his life.

You know, I do believe that having family around you helps a lot. But having your extended family around is so much better. I just noticed that in the US, the cousins live so far away from you. Sometimes, you don’t see them at all! I know this because I have a lot of friends in the US. I know their lives.

Osmond’s son claimed that he felt like he didn’t have friends. Here in the country, you can be bullied in school or at work. You might have just a friend or two. But when you get home, you have your cousins and distant relatives as your friends. There are people around the neighborhood you can hang out with. It minimizes the sadness you feel when you are in school or at work. At home, you can be happy and can be friends with your own flesh and blood. I do believe that helps a lot.

I wish kids these days will realize the importance of life. Get help if you feel like you need it. Approach your parents, your siblings, your close relatives. Tell someone you need an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a set of arms to hug you. There’s help. Get it and don’t think of ending your life.

Hanging out with the men

I love hanging out with my dad, my uncles and my cousins. Whenever we are gathered, we talk about men stuff. No, nothing raunchy, mind you. We are good men. Ha! Ha! Ha! We love talking about sports, particularly water sports that we love. We talk about real estate, tools like industrial handles, cars including parts and accessories. We talk about politics and I tell you, there’s always a heated discussion when it comes to this topic. No hurt feelings. No grudges held, of course. We are family and we take pride in the fact that we are level-headed people. And so many more topics men talk about.

The last time I was able to hang out with the lot was a couple of months ago. I am hoping that this Lenten week, I will see the lot again.

In a matter of minutes

Almost every one in the office was talking about the death of the grandson of the head of the Philippine National Red Cross. The guy, who’s just 26 years old, fell down the veranda of the condo unit where he lived with his grandma, his mom, and his older brother. He just took a cigarette break.

Who would have thought, right?

It was said that he might have sat on the railing of the veranda and got out of balance so he fell down four stories below. He didn’t die right away but it was reported that he suffered a smashed elbow, broken ribs that pierced his liver, and some other broken bones.

What struck me about the news was the fact that he was so alive and healthy. In just a matter of minutes, his life was taken away from him. His last words were: Mom, I’m in pain.

I don’t want to die like that. I want to be able to say goodbye to my love ones. I want to be able to turn over my possessions to my family. I want to prepare everyone and tell them how much I care for them and appreciate the years I spent with them.

Teacher Roxy

Roxy is now readying her resumes for submission to different pre-schools. She is ready to take the next step in her teaching career. She’s been an assistant teacher for over two years now. She is now ready to become the head teacher of a class.

Her specialty is special education. But she’s always wanted to teach pre-school kids so she will try it and will see where it will lead her.

Biggest loser

When I joined my team for lunch the other day the topic was diet pills. Every one I know in the office are obsessed to losing weight. I think the women in my team even have a contest, a biggest loser type of contest and the winner will be getting ten thousand bucks! They are that serious.

I must commend them. It’s not easy being on a diet while working in a stressful environment. But since they found a way to make it fun, they are not only minimizing the stress at work, they are also making sure to come out of the contest all looking like winners!

Beautiful eyes

I easily get attracted to women with beautiful eyes. That’s a fact. So when I see a woman with beautiful eyes but with dark circles around it, I get turned off. The best eye cream is there to be used. Dark circles, wrinkles… something can be done for it now. It’s all about finding the right product for you and making sure that it really works.

No compromises

I am all for being fit. But for me, there’s a limit to it. If you feel like you are making yourself sick already from too much dieting, or that you are on your way to a long stint in the hospital for the sickness you are sure to acquire from what you’re doing to be sexy, then stop it. Go for fda approved diet pills. Go for the safe way to lose weight. Do not compromise your health. There’s a good way, believe me.

Cousin Frieda

My cousin Frieda is in dire need of an under eye cream. She’s been doing her thesis for three months and she hardly ever sleeps. The effect can be seen in her eyes. She looked like she didn’t sleep for a year!

I admire Frieda’s dedication to her studies. She really wants to graduate at the top of her class. That’s why she’s giving her all to the thesis which is the final step before she can finally graduate. We are all rooting for her and are very supportive. We are all praying that she achieves her goals.

25% less body size

Our company’s off-shore COO is here for a visit. Last year, she couldn’t even walk through the door. She was literally bigger than the door frame! So when she arrived a few days ago, we didn’t recognize her. When she said hello to everyone, we were shocked! She is now sporting a slimmer form! I think 75% of her size the last time we saw her. According to her, she underwent bariatric surgery and it is a success. Well, looking at her now, nobody can say that she couldn’t fit through the door a year ago. It is really a successful surgery!

Who would have thought someone as big as her can actually slim down, right?
