Long weekend

cat

I am about ready to keel over. I’ve been working 18-hour days for the past month and a half, making sure that the launch of the new campaign is ready to take off smoothly. This is my very first project as an Operations Manager and I feel the need to prove myself. Campaign launch will be by mid-November. Two more grueling weeks of training for me and my teams.

I am thankful I will be spending today until November 2 at my parents’ house. Mom will surely pamper me. Think home-cooked, hot meals, sleep-ins and free laundry and ironing of my clothes… Dad and I will play badminton at the local tennis court. Can’t wait!

Where will you spend your long weekend?

Newly-renovated clubhouse

I am looking forward to using the fitness equipment in the newly renovated clubhouse where my parents live. I frequently went to that clubhouse as a teenager and I remember it being so cozy and good for hanging out.

According to my parents, the clubhouse now boasts of a gym, a tennis court, a widened party hall, and a coffee shop. Sounds good to me! I am arranging my schedule so I can take the weekend off and spend the holidays with my folks.

Not much is happening to me right now except with the meticulous training and preparation for the campaign launch. You can just imagine what a newly-renovated clubhouse could do to my excitement level. Shoot up, that is!

IT and me

Almost every one I talk to are looking for Jobs in IT. Most of them go to call centers to apply as tech support. 90% of my team are graduates of an IT course. They really know what they are talking about when they assist customers from different parts of the states. Some are underemployed. Like a Nursing graduate who’s a team leader now. He realized that his proficiency with computer programs can be translated into work. And since he didn’t pass the licensure exams, he opted to try out a job related to computers.

I am lucky that I am in the field that I studied four years for. I can’t imagine myself working as a medical representative or a sales person. That’s just not me.

Giveaways

My boss just bought a lot of Dansko sandals to give away to some select employees. My boss has this weird ideas for giveaways. I told him that not every one can appreciate that kind of gift but he was adamant. I am laughing while writing this down because I can still hear the reactions of the people in operations when they heard about the giveaway. Most are excited about it.

Well, I think it’s more of the idea they will be given the gift more than the giveaway itself.

Roadside assistance

Once upon a time, we had a very old car and it always broke down in areas where we couldn’t get any help. We would resort to sending an SOS to relatives and they would come get us. One time, we were already very near our destination when the car broke down. There was no mechanic in sight. My dad didn’t know what happened to the car and there’s no help forthcoming. So, once again, we called relatives to come help us.

Nowadays, we need not bother anyone anymore. There’s www.goodsamers.com who specializes in roadside assistance. Such is what’s great with the world wide web. You can find so many good things and when I told my dad about this, he immediately went online to find out more. You should, too.

I look tired and haggard.

I know about metrosexual men who are a bit vain about their looks. I would like to think I take care of my looks but I am not vain. I make sure I am clean and presentable all the time. But just last night, when I looked in the mirror, I was shocked to find that I am in dire need of an eye cream for dark circles! My eyes look tired and I look haggard. No wonder my sister was looking at me with concern at Sunday brunch. She just couldn’t comment because we had visitors.

Lack of sleep and irregular visits to the gym. I need to step up and take care of myself more.

Two cars

I love my car. I have two right now, one is not working anymore but I still keep for sentimental reasons. It was my very first car out of my own pocket and I love seeing it sitting in my parents’ garage. The other one is a Toyota Vios that I am still paying for. I take care of my car really well because aside from the fact that it is still unpaid, I am also a very practical person who wants to make the most out of my every purchase. I am looking to enhance it with some car accessories that my cousin will be helping me with. I just hope I can spare some time to go do it.

I tried making pizza for company last Friday night and ended up burning the crust. This photo was the only great looking thing that emerged from the trying-hard cookout *lol

A wake-up call

Bagyong-Ondoy

I am sure you’ve already seen the devastation left by Bagyong Ondoy (Storm Ketsana). In my opinion, this is a wake-up call to all of us. What happened last Saturday was the result of years of nature abuse. Cutting down trees, non-stop quarrying, tons of garbage that we can recycle… We don’t have anyone to blame but ourselves. I, myself, am guilty at one point in my life. I have been neglect in my duties to nature as well. We still can remedy this.

We can start NOW!
