Funnies for today

alone

I was laughing so hard when I saw this awesome survey! Hahaha! This is exactly true for me. I walk around naked in the house and of course, I can’t do that when the ‘rents are around. But because I live alone, I can do that without the worry of offending anyone.

Ahhh… the life of a bachelor!

Collapsed

Rick collapsed due to over fatigue. We rushed to the condo unit when we heard about it. He was three floors above my unit. Rick is the cousin I was telling you all about before, who was jilted and opted to relocate here in the country to start anew. He was supposed to go back to the states to go back to his old life. He did but came back after only two weeks. He told us that his life is here already and he wants to live it out here.

Anyway, so we found him woozy from his collapse but otherwise unharmed. He knocked himself on the plastic knobs on his wall. Thank goodness it’s plastic and not metal or wood or he would have knocked himself silly for sure.

He’s been working non-stop, juggling a clinic and a residency. I told him to take it easy and relax. He’s staying right now with my parents. For sure, he’ll be back to his old self in no time. My mom knows how to pamper us kids.

Lavish meals and accommodations

So much brouhaha surrounds the most recent US trip of the country’s president. I understand that people are appalled with the reports coming in on expensive lunches and dinners, lavish hotel accommodations plus a bid by the president herself to buy a brand new jet she can use in further travels until her term ends May 2010. Sure, it is appalling considering she’s the president of a third world country and that so many of her citizens are crying from too much poverty. Regardless of her claims that the government’s not the one who paid for the expensive meals, it is still inappropriate for her to partake in that kind of extravagance. I can understand that.

But the thing is, if it’s only her who spent the money, it’s okay. A company’s CEO or other executives won’t be billeted in a less than 5-star hotel when they travel for business. The company shoulders the expenses, of course. The CEO (and other executives) will also spend on items from the mini bar, expensive meals by themselves or with other company officials, other hotel amenities, and even a night out or two. These expenses are all shouldered by the company unless otherwise a personal one. It would be the same with the country’s head of state. So what’s all the fuss?

The fuss is all about the entourage who also partook of the lavish meals and hotel accommodations. Imagine bringing that many people with you. Why would the dinner amount to $20,000? It’s because they are a hundred in number, if I am not mistaken. 100 people in a very expensive restaurant is really costly!

Wrong judgment on your part, madame president. That’s what triggered this brouhaha. She should just apologize to the nation. Again, regardless if the government paid for the meals or not (as they are claiming), it is still bad judgment to partake in that oh so lavish meals considering half of your country’s population can’t even eat a meal in a day!

City food

When you live in the city like me, away from your parents, alone in an apartment or condominium unit, chances are, fast food and other quick-cook joints are places you frequently go to. I do. I must admit I survive on fast food and instant cook products. I can only taste home cooked food during Sunday brunch with my parents and my sister’s family.

My ex-girlfriend introduced me to weight loss supplements. I tried two brands that she also tried and found that my body’s responding well with one of the brands. I keep a handful of it at home and when I feel like I’ve been ingesting too much oil and fats already, I take it.

What's in?

My sister can be swept away by the current thing in the health department. You know, herbal products, green tea, diet supplements, colon cleanse like colonetix, and so much more. When you ask her what’s in right now, she’ll give you a run down of the latest in health products. Believe me, she knows everything! She’s online most of the time. Her tv is always on, either on the news channel or the Discovery channel. So it’s no wonder she knows so much even though she doesn’t go out of her house that much.

I don’t mind trying out new health supplements and such. As long as someone else already tried it and can testify to its good effects.

Seeing things

seeingthingsOne of the directors at work threw a birthday party last Saturday night. It was the bomb! I got roaring drunk because I knew there’s no work the next day and my sister would be picking me up. The party was held at the clubhouse of the subdivision where my parents and my sister live. I was safe so drinking was not a problem for me that night.

But I regretted it in the morning. Sunday is brunch day with the family. I stayed at my sister’s house so my parents didn’t know that I came home seeing things not just in double but in so many! In the morning, my head felt like it was cracked open and salt was poured in my brain. I was fried! It was the first time that happened to me because I am normally not a big drinker. I had too much fun and I paid the price.

Not yet ready

I broke up with my girlfriend. We’ve been together for almost five years. We’ve been drifting apart for almost a year now but we were not acknowledging it. We had a huge fight last Friday and we aired all the issues we dealt with. It was not a pretty picture, I tell you. But before we become totally angry with each other, we stopped slinging mud. We talked calmly and decided that parting ways would be the best thing to do for now. If we are meant to be together again, then we would be together, no questions asked. We settled things amicably that night and made a clean cut.

Yesterday, I accompanied my sister to the mall. She was buying a new watch when I saw my ex with a guy. It was obvious that they were on a date. I didn’t know what depression is until that time. So it was like that. It’s like being on Fastin that you couldn’t eat. You lack the motivation to even put the spoon with the food to your mouth. My sister commented on it but I kept mum. I haven’t told them yet what happened. I am not yet ready to talk about it. We’ve been together for almost five years. Five years! It’s not something that will go away that fast. Guess, I was wrong about her. Now, I am wondering if she’s doing things behind my back before…
