An errand
My mom called me up last night to ask if I am free this coming weekend. She has an errand for me and I said I am free even if I already scheduled something two weeks ago. My mom seldom asks for me to run an errand so I gave in. I can still go to my appointment at a later time anyway. She apparently needs my help in arranging patio furniture that she bought recently. I am all for it. I told her we can start early so we can finish early as well. Oh, and she also needs me to mow the lawn. So much for finishing early hehe
Other duties
I have told you about the 50 expatriates coming in for the fiscal year strategic planning to be held here in the country. I am helping out other departments since IT is already done with the gadgets to be issued to the 50 persons coming in. Apparently, there will be term life insurance quotes needed as well so I am doing my part in securing it. The expats will be staying in for a month, some longer than that. They need life insurance while they’re here in the country, in case something happens. I am learning a lot because of the organized chaos in the office. Imagine, I am dabbling in human resources and administration duties. So much to learn, too little time.
Busy as a bee
Our company is in chaos right now. There will be expatriates coming in from the different countries where our company has a branch. They will be holding strategic planning here in the country and it will be a month-long run. The admin department of the office is going gaga with last minute preparations and such. The HR department is still busy with the implementation of the corporate performance management system which is newly placed. While we at the IT department are busy with all the laptops and other gadgets that will be issued to the 50 delegates coming in. Lotsa work! Busy week for me!
Turning 60
An aunt of mine will be celebrating her 60th birthday next week. It is a milestone for her because she’s also being awarded a couple of awards from the university she’s teaching in. She will also be retiring soon but have put up a small public library for the poor kids to go to. It is near her home and you can just imagine how proud we are of her! She has two sons and a daughter, all professionals already. Such an accomplishment! I am thinking of what gift to give her and I found reading magnifiers that I think she’ll enjoy.
Getting a new car
So I heard from my cousin, Will, the one I told you that will be staying over. He said that he’ll be staying over for one whole year. And that he’s thinking of setting up a clinic so he can work while in the country. Meanwhile, I am already scouting for a place where he can set up his clinic as well as a car that he can drive around when he’s here. He particularly wants an SUV. Of course, a car insurance will also be taken out for the new car.
He’s making me a slave! I should ask for a salary already. Ha! Ha! Ha!
Workout fan
Oh, about my previous post on my cousin coming over for a brief spell… I will also be adding a new treadmill at home. I forgot to tell that he is a workout fanatic! Among us male in the family, he has the most buff body to boast of. It’s the doctor in him, I guess. He cannot go through the day without running or doing his crunches. I admire him for that. But I am not as disciplined. I go to the gym at least three times a day. And that’s about it. I think I will learn to adapt his discipline when he stays over.
