He’s really meant for me

Ha! Usher’s wedding to his long time girlfriend was cancelled! I knew it! He was truly meant for me. Hehehe…

Here’s the full news.

NEW YORK – The wedding between Usher and his pregnant fiance has been canceled, his publicist told The Associated Press on Saturday.

The wedding between the multiplatinum singer and his longtime girlfriend, Tameka Foster, was scheduled for Saturday. The pair are expecting their first child together sometime this fall.

However, a statement released by publicist Patti Webster exclusively to the AP read: “It was announced today that the wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond, IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected.”

Foster and Usher announced their engagement earlier this year, and later, that she was expecting his first child. She has three other children from a previous marriage.

Webster would not comment on whether the two were still engaged or even a couple.

I’ve always been a fan of Usher. I so love his voice! He is uber sexy! I saw him in Oprah several times and one of those episodes was he made a fan’s dream come true. The fan just wanted to meet him in person. What he did, he took the fan out on a date! What a sweetie! :)

I just wish he sees his true love… meeh! Just a rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills and then I’m all his. Hahaah

Cat and mouse… friends?

In Bogota, Colombia, cats and mice are put in the same cage. Can’t believe it right? Then read on…

BOGOTA, Colombia – Who says Tom and Jerry can’t be friends? For the past year, a special Colombian police unit has been locking rats in cages with cats as part of a project to train the rodents to sniff out the more than 100,000 landmines planted mostly by leftist rebels across this conflict-wracked Andean country.

Bringing the rats face to face with an enemy allows them to stay more focused once they are released, veterinarian Luisa Mendez, who’s been working with the animals for two years, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

“Here the cats play with the rats instead of attacking them,” Mendez said. “The cats wear shields on their nails so they can’t cause any injuries and as a result the rats feel comfortable playing around them.”

The rodents are taught to freeze in front of mines, but had difficulty staying put for fear of being attacked by predators.

Col. Javier Cifuentes, who oversees the project, said the rats’ success rate in mine detection is 96 percent. Unlike dogs, the rats weigh a lot less and therefore don’t trigger explosions.

Colombia is home to the world’s largest number of land mine victims. Last year, there were 1,108 victims, or about one every eight hours, the government says. Nearly a quarter of the victims die from their injuries.

The nation’s rat project was recognized last month as one of the five most innovative projects at a conference of behavior psychologists in Mexico, and its initial findings will soon be presented at a similar conference in Argentina.

Very interesting. Now if only we can do this to members of the Opposition and Administration here in the country, that will benefit a lot of Filipinos.

Drug rehab ‘vacations’ of young Hollywood celebs

These girls are having fun instead of treating their rehab programs seriously. Don’t they know that fame and glamour will fade eventually and that they will get stuck until death with their chemical-pumped bodies?

On the LA Daily News… Young celebs treat rehab like ‘trip to the spa’

Turning my brain inside out

It has become so difficult for me these past few days to think of what to write in this blog. My mind cannot come up with an appropriate topic to write about here. So I’m thinking that instead of continuing with The Daily Trend, I am re-creating this site as a Google and Yahoo news site. I will try to gather hot topics from Yahoo and Google and will blog about it here.

Of course I will still write reviews and sponsored posts as well.

I will not change this blog’s title anymore. The tagline should change though. Will think of an appropriate one.

Yeah! More Potter to Come!

There was an overwhelming sense of relief and sadness among all Harry Potter fans. Relief because we now all know Harry Potter survived. He defeated Voldemort and lived to marry Ginny Weasly. Sadness because it has finally come to an end. The series that has the world hanging on and asking for the next installment is finally over.

But wait! There’s something J.K. Rowling has to say. Read on… (more…)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

In my opinion… was the best Harry Potter film so far.

For those who do not know, the movie is based on the fifth novel of the same title by J.K. Rowling. It is about the secret society, The Order of the Phoenix, formed by Albus Dumbledore to combat Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Now this same group is once again active because Voldemort has returned (killing Cedric Diggory in the last movie).

The opening was fantastic! The appearance of those Death Eaters made me more nervous than Harry. The effects were really great! And Gary Oldman as Sirius Black is really… wow! I love him already! Hahaha

My siblings and I went to SM North Edsa to watch the film yesterday. We were there around 9:30AM. The mall is still closed so we had our breakfast first at McDonald’s. At exactly 10AM, the mall opened. We immediately went to the ticketnet so we can purchase our tickets ahead of the others. It was a payday weekend so we expected that there will be a lot of families who will go out and watch the movie. And boy, we were right! When we arrived at the ticket booth, there’s already a long line of moviegoers. Those who are not HP fans will surely not understand why people are queuing like crazy so early in the morning. It’s the excitement to watch the movie… Fortunately, after 10 minutes, we were able to get our tickets. The first showing was at 10:20AM. We’re right on time!

So armed with lots of junk food, we went inside the moviehouse and oohhed and aahhed on the movie effects.

We watched the movie one more time. Hahaha

So we went home discussing the movie at 4PM.

Great movie!

Go watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I’m giving it an 8.5 out of 10 rating.

Balancing paid versus non-paid posts

When you’re all into ‘problogging’ it gets hard to balance the content of your site. You join three or more revenue-generating programs, write sponsored posts more than thrice a day and your site is definitely screwed. There’s a lot of people who gets turned off when they see sponsored posts in a blog. So the ultimate question is, how do I do keep on writing sponsored posts and retain my readers at the same time???

So I browsed the net and is not really that keen on following some advices doled out by other ‘probloggers’. I had an idea that I cannot quite put into words. I browsed the net until I found Brian Gardner’s site. I love his theme! That’s my idea put into action! I need to put up a “Featured Post” for my readers and visitors to see first before the sponsored posts here. That way, they won’t get turned off by seeing sponsored posts immediately. I asked Mr. Gardner if he can possibly make a customized theme similar to the previous one he had. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford the price. He promised though that he will make public the theme his blog had on.

I browsed the net yesterday, with nothing else to do and uninspired to write a decent post. Wonder of wonders, I came upon Michael Pollock’s site. And he has this wonderful theme that I have in mind, very similar to Brian Gardner’s previous theme that I was raving about! Wow!

I’m sure you noticed what I liked most about this site. This “Featured Post” section!

So feel free to rave about this new theme that I got.

And by the way, don’t forget to read my posts below. I’m sure you will get something out of it.

Friendster fever

I remember roughly two years ago how addicted everyone was with Friendster. You are not ‘in’ when you’re not there. I was one of the few who were ‘late’ in creating an account there. And when I was able to… boy, was I one of those who go addicted to it!

I found my old friends and high school classmates there. It was actually great! To this day, I still keep in touch to those that I found in Friendster. There are just some people you would rather not have found.

Oh well.
