by MorgI don’t know what’s with Lent but I am generally happy during this season. Probably because my dad’s and grandma’s birthdays fall during Holy Week. Or because it meant that there’s no office work during this time and it would mean lazin’ around in the morning instead of the usual rush. Or because there’s hope that my dad would allow us to go swimming with cousins.
And for some reason, the “pabasa” is something I look forward to. I don’t know how to do it, I don’t really participate, but I love hearing the elders in our place sing it.
Whatever it is, I’m happy because it’s Lent already. Hmm…This will probably sound blasphemous or something to others. Rest assured I’m a devout Catholic and I meant no harm in what I said.
I also love the fact that there are marathons of some shows shown during Holy Week. My sisters and I watch 7th Heaven marathons for 3 consecutive years now. Tradition already. Hahaha…
We also do Visita Iglesia on Maundy Thursday. Our family’s been doing it since we’re little kids and last year, since it’s the first year mom’s not with us, our uncles, aunts, cousins and grandma on our father’s side went with us.
It’s also a tradition among Reyes men that they walk from our place to Quiapo on Good Friday. They’ll go to several churches before finally ending their “alay-lakad” at Quiapo Church. If you’re 5 years old, male and you’re part of the Reyes clan, you are part of this tradition. After this, all of them will go to our house for some refreshments (sago-gulaman lang).
These are probably the reasons why I’m happy during this season. I look forward to it every year.
But I also do not forget to pray and relive the true meaning of Lent.

I’ll be offline for 3 days starting tomorrow until Monday. Unless I get to visit a net café which I seriously doubt. Off to Baguio folks!
Inay, pakabait habang wala ang anak mo. Itay, pakibantayan ang inay please. Pakitali kung kinakailangan. Hahahaha
Happy weekend, everyone! God bless!

ako naman malungkot pag lenten. ewan ko ba! bawal kasi mag-internet. haha.
Flower festival pala sa Baguio! Dami tao dun last weekend, as shown on TV.
Ako rin noon happy kasi nga parang time for the family for a get together, lahat walang pasok. Although di kami lumalabas ng bahay dahil nga semana santa di ba?
Hope you had the loveliest time in Baguio. The Lenten Season does make you feel happy in a strange way, because that’s the time that you get to go home to the province if you’re promdi just like me… Lovely food and reunions! I know, that is quite sad. But it’s really a celebration more than anything else. The most important thing is you reflect on the suffering of Jesus and what it means to you as a Christian… Which I for one is probably not the best person to get this religious insight from. But doing the right stuff to yourself and to the neighbours is more important to me than taking the mick on other people’s beliefs.
